The Creature.
OK, now this is kind of funny: Buddy was hesitant to go out in the backyard to go pee and I wondered if that nasty cat was around again, the one that bit a chunk out of his tail and that I've often seen prowling around our house and that has snuck in on occasion, so I looked out the window and I saw what I thought looked like some sort of creature under the bush so I went out to investigate. I shuffled out ever-so-carefully, and I wandered over there with trepidation, stick in hand, and I went over there to check it out to scare it off, and I poked it with a stick...... it looked like a muskrat or something the best I could see, but I can't see too well, mind you, and I'd had weed, so I didn't know what to expect or what I'd find, and, afterall, we have had skunks, groundhogs, raccoons, rabbits, birds of prey, etc. in our yard, and even a fox across the street as well as coyotes in the area so you never know, and I was worried whatever it was might be a danger to my little dog, and so.....out I went.....
So I carefully and slowly approached it and poked it with a stick, but it didn't move. It was big, brown,and.....hard. At first I thought it was dead.....and then realized it was never alive to begin with.....it was, in fact, just one of the kids' stuffed toys; a beaver that had been somehow left outside and had frozen in the winter cold!
Ha ha on me.
