Fading.

The summer is fading. I can feel it. It's getting cooler now (it was a chilly 9 C thins morning when I woke up and took Buddy out for his morning walk I had to even wear a jacket!) and the high today is only going up to 24 C(which is still nice, but cooler than it had been) and I can see the sun is changing too as in the morning it takes longer for it to come on to the back porch; it used to be there by 8 am but now not until much later and it sets earlier now too; just past 8 pm and it used to be around 9 pm and sunrise is later now as well; past 6 am when it used to be around 5 am so I can tell  summer is fading away and coming to an end soon. It also saddened me to realize that Buddy, being that he's now 14 1/2 and I may not have much time left either and that this very well may be our last  summer together, too, so we have to make it count and squeeze in as much of it as we possibly can and enjoy every single moment while it lasts because before we know it, it will be gone and will be just a memory of the past.

Yesterday I was set to take Buddy for an afternoon walk as well and had him all hitched up to his collar and leash and at the front door waiting to go when I saw that The Beast  (the fierce humongous Mastiff next-door) was out running around loose again, with the owner nowhere to be found and it was going around the side of our house, too, so I changed my mind and turned around and came back in, not risking it. I absolutely loathe  that thing; it's a menace and shouldn't be running loose like that but on a leash, and at that time there were also alot of small kids outside across the street too at a camp at the dance studio it could have also just as easily attacked...I seriously hate that thing, it's such a nuisance always running down the street and leaving huge shits on everyone's lawn but hopefully some day soon it'll run away, get picked up by animal control, get hit by a car, or some redneck will get out his shotgun and shoot it,etc...and obviously the owner doesn't care about it or else he wouldn't let it run loose like that where it could get hit by a car, and. the neighbour at the corner that had all kinds of work done on his house also had a whatever-you-call it-bulldozer or backhoe or whatever it was (it sure was noisy!) early at 7 am tearing up the concrete sidewalk /walkway in front of his house as well and my hubby as well as painting the veranda railing also put in a brand-new porch light, mailbox, and doorknob on the front door, too, so now all the neighbours will think that we're moving with all the sudden repairs even though it's just because he's on holidays and has the time and my mother said if she ever had lots of $$$ ever again she'd get the roof re-done( metal roof this time) and all the windows, although I like  our old-fashioned wood-framed windows as it gives the house character and reminds me of our old Toronto house.

I also found a way to help ease the itch of my annoying Pink-Eye: turning my eyelids inside-out( yes, that's another of my unusual skills I possess, and in school  I remember it used to impress all the boys and gross-out all the girls) as it stings which distracts me away from the itch, and the 17 YR old can do am impression of my mother complaining she refers to as Angry Old Lady and even complains about her to her co-workers at work....yet my mother claims that she  "never complains".....yeah.....right.....and I'm the Queen of England! Her and the 25 YR old also went out to dinner with a bunch of co-workers last night as an end of summer thing before they all go back to school in 2 weeks as most of them are students just working part-time, and at least the good thing about the so-called "pandemic" and the panic it engenders is it made homeschooling more widely known, acceptable, and practiced, and not seen as so "fringe" anymore.Perhaps that's the way God planned  it though; to bring families closer together, by having parents working from home and homeschooling their kids, spending more time together as a family, strengthening families and having parents actually raising their own  kids instead of farming them out to be raised and educated by strangers and the State?
