My brother-in-law made this totally amazing igloo, seen here. It took him 2 days, a total of 8 hours or so each day but it turned out amazing! He spent a month in Hawaii and is now in BC for the rest of the winter, trying to avoid the cold and snow....but..... since he was there it snowed in both Hawaii and BC. I blame him. I say it's his fault and that it followed him and he brought it over with him, ha,ha. The igloo is really cool though and I thought it was worth mentioning. He's staying with another brother and his wife and I joked I hope he doesn't have to stay in the ice house all the time, that they let him indoors.
The 19 YR old also got the best journalism internship ever at CTV in Ottawa, the most-coveted spot and if all goes well it could lead to a job later once she graduates and at least it's great experience and looks good on her resume, and now I have the virus (I dubbed the Papa Plague as my hubby first had it and brought it into the house infecting the rest of us) that's been going thru the house: bad headache, chills, sweats, cough, dizzy, sore throat, achy ears, stiff sore neck, congestion...the worst is the headache though and it kept waking me up during the night. Ugh. So far only the 17 YR old is the last one left standing, that hasn't had it (yet) so far....
I am also running out of my BP pills. When I noticed I had a week or so left I called the pharmacy and I needed the prescription re-newed so they faxed the doctor.....only when we went back to the pharmacy to see if the pills were ready a couple of days later they said the doctor still hadn't replied to their fax yet......so then I spent 2 days on the phone trying to get thru to them myself and never got thru, either got the machine, or it was always busy or I got put on hold for 15 minutes or so at a time and got frustrated and finally just gave up and then finally yesterday tried again and the machine said they were closed until after the long weekend and not open again until Tuesday, and meantime I'll run out of pills by then and I still haven't been able to reach them.....oh, f*ck.... what now? I mean, BP pills aren't something you should run out of and stop taking suddenly, if my BP shoots up I could have a heart attack or a stroke...
I saw my friend O (from grade 10) on the TV news as well as he's now a renowed psychologist often consulted by the media and when I told the 11 YR old, I know that guy! I went to school with him! he didn't believe me and goes, Yeah....right... and I know the Queen, too! but I really actually do and we're still friends on Facebook today. No matter how successfully he is professionally today though I'll still always remember him best in math class throwing that piece of chalk and hitting the teacher with it( but she was awful and soooo deserved it) and being the Class Clown. He was such a prankster, in fact, he got expelled for it and got sent to an Alternative school, where he flourished. Some thing never change though: he still likes the band Quiet Riot.( so do I)
My friend P (grade 6) and her BF are in Las Vegas now as well and they were just in the Caribbean over Christmas and one of my cousins(who just recently spent 2 months in Australia) is going on a cruise to Hawaii next month, too. I just loved Hawaii. (I think most people do though; I can't imagine someone coming back from Hawaii and saying, I hated it! Hawaii really sucks!) It was one of my fave. places of everywhere I've been to, along with the Amalfi Coast in Italy and Santorini in Greece. Poor Buddy also got lost and disoriented in the backyard in the snow; I think as it was so much white in every direction he got "snow blindness" and the yard looks so big to such a small dog and plus he's a senior dog and he just got confused. It was so sad though, watching his trying to follow my voice and find his way back so I ended up going over to him and picking him up and carried him back inside.
