I'm still in awe marvelling at the incredible, amazing KISS concert the other night, the best I've ever been to. I was surprised, however, when Paul Stanley (pictured here) started talking to the audience(as I've never heard him actually speak before, only sing, which of course he does very well) and his voice startled me, I hate to say it but it was well, how do I put this nicely, but it was grating, abrasive, brash, annoying and to me sounded like nails on a chalkboard! I was seriously taken aback and it was hard to listen to. His accent reminded me of US Prez hopeful Bernie Sanders, who I also really like BTW, so don't get the wrong idea here; I mean no offence and I'm not insulting them; I like both of them very much, and in fact, if I were American I'd even vote for Bernie. I was always stumped on Bernie's accent. I know he's a senator from Vermont but I always thought his accent he sounded like he's from New York but then again I figure maybe people in Vermont sound the same way and I've never met anyone from Vermont so maybe it's possible? Then I figure ok maybe Paul's from the same place as Bernie then since they both sound the same and it was bugging me(because I'm weird and naturally curious like that) so I Googled it and I was NOT surprised to learn that Paul is from New York; Brooklyn to be precise......and guess what? Bernie Sanders was also born and raised in New York; he didn't move to Vermont until he was an adult, which explains why he sounds like a New Yorker, so I was right! One of my skills though is being able to recognize accents and being able to tell where they're from based on the accent. I've always been good with languages and I speak 4 myself.
The girls also took the train home late last night as my hubby didn't want to have to drive back to Toronto again a second day in a row but they were late as they had a jumper who was hit and killed by a trian on their line and it was shut down and delayed for several hours. I can still remember one time when I was in grade 9 a whole bunch of kids in my class came in late as they had a jumper in front of their subway. That would be an awful thing to witness and something you'd never get out of your head. I remember as well my Babushka said during the Great Depression saying she saw someone hurling themselves off a building downtown and landing on the concrete down below. She never forgot that image in her mind. I guess not. I remember a sad story in the news as well when I was a teen of a 14 YR old girl who was 9 months pregnant kneeling down in front of a train making the Sign of The Cross and then, well.... you know the rest.
