More memories from the 70's when I was a kid:
Adidas gym bag. My cousin had this along with pretty well everyone else. I saw them everywhere in various different colours along with the T-shirts( he had them as well) and the running shoes, which I also had the classic white pair with the blue stripes.
This, believe it or not, was a sitter(chair) for a baby. My little cousins had them but it really doesn't look very sturdy or safe, does it? It looks flimsy, like it could easily just topple over. I had one for my dolls, too, but dolls don't weigh much, unlike babies, who are also very wiggly. Thankfully by the time I had my own kids the baby sitters were alot more sturdy! This was just thin plastic, sort of like laundry basket, with a thin metal wire at the back to prop it up. Keep in mind though too back in the 70's we didn't have car seats or seatbelts, either though and yet somehow we survived.
The hippie shaggy suede and sherpa coat from Afghanistan popular in both the 60's and 70's. Girls everywhere had them, incl. me and I still have one even now. Janis Joplin-style.
Aw, yes, the Feathered hair. In the 70's everyone had this popular style( inspired by Farrah Fawcett) girls and guys. I tried to do my hair like this but being so thin and fine it wasn't thick enough to "hold" and just always fell limp and flat.
The Parka. Both guys and girls and had this and I had it when I was 12. It was the warmest thing ever and I wore it with my Cougar boots, also the warmest boots ever and the fashion of the day. This was also the perfect thing for tobogganing down the hills as well as walking to school in the cold winter.
Oh, I remember this! The light-up Santa pin! You put it on your lapel and pull the string at the bottom and the nose lit up red like Rudolph. It was so much fun!
As well, this is one of my cousin's in Europe's house, all lit up for Christmas (and I just love their stone walkway!) and all I want for Christmas this year is for my Buddy to still be alive and be here with me, and if it costs 20$ or more it's NOT a "Stocking Stuffer" either; it's a gift, and that song goes, it's the most wonderful time of the year...too but actually that's summer, because that's when it's nice and sunny and warm and you can sit outside and feel the sun on your face, and my fave. numbers have always been 2 and 4 too and I was born on the 4th so I wonder if I'm going to die on the 2nd? I'm also sooo jaundiced now( liver failing) when you press down on my skin with a finger and let go it leaves a white round spot behind, like when you have a tan and I'm nauseated too which is another indication(and like I had before) something I rarely have otherwise, and extra tired as well, and even my eyes itch, and one thing I don't "get" either is Cancel Culture ; when a celeb or company says or does something stupid or wrong or society seems unacceptable they blacklist them; whatever happened to forgiveness? People make mistakes; we all do, we're only human afterall. What about second chances?
