Thunder Snow.

All week they had been forecasting this massive winter storm warning for yesterday and they weren't wrong and it didn't fail to disappoint. They'd said 20-30 cm of snow but I'd say we easily got more than 30 cm and I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever seen so much all at once before. There's just sooooo much! Oh, my God! When I opened up the back door this morning to let Buddy out it was half-way up the door!

It started last night around 8 pm and it's still snowing this morning, although less. last night it was a certified blizzard with harsh blowing winds and heavy snow ( 4 cm an hour) and it was just pure sheer white out there you couldn't see a thing and people were told to stay off the roads and not travel or go out, flights were cancelled, evening activities and classes were cancelled, people were let out of work early, etc. and at Midnight I even honest-to-God heard thunder and saw lightning- no joke- they call it thunder snow like a thunderstorm with thunder and lightning only in a snowstorm! It's rare and this is only the second time in my entire life that I've experienced it. The other time was one time walking to church in a snowstorm and I can still remember it,too; the sky was a pretty pink colour and there was thunder.

This is a small sample of an area I had to dig out and shovel this morning for Buddy to pee  and it's hard to tell from the photo here but it's about 2 feet tall, maybe higher. I still have to go back out later and shovel him a bigger area and it'll probably give me a heart-attack because there's so much snow and it's just so heavy and dense.

They confirmed that this is the worst storm we've had all winter and no doubt! It's a good thing it's over the weekend though when there's no school and less people at work and they have time to clear the roads off before Monday.

You can't even see where the road and sidewalk are there's so much snow. I can still remember as a kid my cousins who lived out in the country taking their snowmobiles out on the road on days like this.

You can see here how much the car( we still have the rental and haven't heard back from insurance yet since the accident and it's been a month or so) is buried and needs to be shovelled out.

That snowy lump you see here is the neighbour's buried car.

Even stars need darkness to shine.
