If autism has always been around but we hadn’t noticed, where are all the adults with autism? One in 55 children has autism. With numbers that high, why aren’t they researching autism causes? Do they already know the answer?

Autism has been around forever. Autism has produced problems in families, but they have taken care of it. Autism is a ‘difference’, sometimes good and sometimes bad. However, my personal opinion (totally unresearched and probably biased) is that autistic people are entirely responsible for just about every advance in human achievement.

It is the autistic person who thinks outside the box. It is the autistic person who sees, quite clearly, what others don’t see. Autistic people are ‘odd’. Leonardo da Vinci appears to have been autistic. I’m willing to bet just about every human innovation has come about because of an autistic person.

Most of us are not autistic. Our future depends on autistic people who think differently.
