I saw this photo online the other day and it just screamed 1982.
Yes, this was really how we dressed back then. I'm embarrassed to say that I too wore clothes just like this(as did all the girls in my school).
I was in grade 9( I even had the same purple pants and the same hairstyle, too)) and this was the height of fashion.
The Valley Girl style.
Guilty as charged.
I'm horrified now looking back(and I laugh, esp. at the knickers!) but there were some styles from the 80's that I liked, such as the baggy jeans, acid-washed denim, and the slouch socks. There were alot of hideous fashions though, too, such as the padded shoulders on blouses and dresses that would make a football player envious, stirrup pants, leg warmers,etc.. I really hated the neon phase though where everything was a bright neon pink, green, or yellow for an entire year(I think it was 1984 or 1985) and I never bought anything it was soooo ugly.I hate neon colours; I always have and I always will. Just yuck!
This also brought back memories; I'd splash this on after a bath in the 80's( you can't even find it anymore) and also the Love's Baby Soft spray which smelled like baby powder. I loved that stuff, plus the lip gloss that tasted like fruit and was so good I'd always lick it off my lips.I also loved the puffy and scratch 'n stiff stickers that smelled like fruit, popcorn, pizza, etc. I'd put all over my school binders that smelled so good. The 80's was a fun time to be a teen and the music and the TV shows were also the best. One thing I still keep from the 70's and 80's is suntanning using Johnson's Baby Oil mixed with iodine. You can't beat that for a nice deep, dark, golden tan, plus it smells good too and moisturizes your skin at the same time, plus it's way cheaper than suntan oil. I hated the Sun-In I used to lighten my hair though; it was supposed to make it go lighter (as in blonde or at least blonde highlights) but for me it just reeked of vinegar and turned it a copper-y brassy colour and took forever to get rid of.
Later today I also visit my mother, and last night I had this weird dream, too, I was at a dinner party but before we were allowed to eat everyone had a piece of paper on their place-setting with a word on it and they had to write down the definition(and we didn't have a dictionary or anything to help us,either) and use it in a sentence and of course with MY luck I got a Latin word and I know 4 languages but Latin isn't one of them(my mother studied Latin for 4-5 years but she wasn't there to help me) and it was such an obscure Latin word too that even knowing other languages still didn't help me to figure out what it might have meant so I just wrote as my sentence:
I can't find the meaning of ( insert whatever the word was) so I'll go look it up in the dictionary.
I guess it worked because I got to eat.
How cute is this? I just love my Buddy so much; he is the light in the darkness and the light in my life, and an answer to my prayers, and yesterday and today the left side of my head hurts too even though I never got hit or bumped it and at times it also feels like something's "dripping" from the inside, too, and I just realized that pearls are like gallstones for oysters, and now having kids feels like a long time ago; a distant memory in the past like my childhood and teen years, now a long-forgotten phase in my life,, now long behind me and now I adapt to a new life and write a new chapter where it's just me now and I continue on where I started off.
What's Irish and comes out in the spring-time?
Paddy O' Furniture! (patio furniture....get it?)
We don’t know when this will end. But we do know that eventually it will end.-Kate Pearson
