Yesterday we had our Easter Feaster some is seen here, minus the mashed potatoes and buns which still hadn't been cooked yet.and all that food that my mother demanded BTW she never even ate OR took back with her, what a waste. They also wanted turkey (which is just wrong) even though you're supposed to have ham at Easter and no one even touched the ham other than Buddy and they never ate the mini herbed potatoes I made either (why do I even bother?)and then I also over-heard my hubby talking to the out-of-town kids lying taking credit saying that he cooked dinner when really I did most of it and all he cooked was the turkey and the mashed potatoes but I did all the rest! As always, dismissing everything I do and acting like I don't do anything. He had to cut the meat though because I just can't cut evenly for the life of me and for some reason ( maybe because I'm stupid?) one end ends up like 3 inches thick and the other end paper thin. We're having left-overs today( so I don't have to cook, yay!) and it was so informal yesterday we didn't even eat in the diningroom or use the fine china like we normally do for holidays anymore( mainly because everyone's too lazy to clean it off) and just in the livingroom watching Mr. Bean. The Easter lily also died just the day before yesterday, too.
Later on in the evening once my mother got dropped off my hubby and the boys also went to see a lame-ass movie about some gorilla fighting a dinosaur; I swear, it must be in male DNA to like such lame stuff, and my mother was bossy and demanding as usual ordering the 17 and 29 YR old to get her this-and-that like they were her servants and the 29 YR old said, Should I also get you a golden Laurel wreath and hand-feed you grapes, too? and I laughed my ass off. I'm also glad both Buddy and my mother were still both here with us this Easter, esp. since it might be our last together, and she said alot of people at her LTC home "have alot of black eyes" but she mumbles( and I don't hear so well, either) so at first I thought she said they have alot of Black GUYS! HA! My hubby also hates my reggae as much as I hate his loser redneck country music and it's an impasse we've had for decades, almost like an epic battle between the British and the French and the 70's when I was a kid was a great time for TV shows, too(esp. sitcoms) as well as great music but I can still remember 3 really awful shows, too that still stand out as real stinkers: Hee-Haw, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, and The Lawrence Welk Show.
I have come to expect disappointment and hurt in my personal life, which has led me to be more resilient but also emotionally hardened.-Bernard Rodriquez
