You Can Never Go Back.

I've always wondered what our old house in Toronto looks like inside now ever since we left in 1984 to move to L.A. and often have these recurring dreams I move back and so I did some research and just happened to find it still on a realty site from when it was last sold in 2014, shown here. I have to say I'm sad and disappointed that they got rid of my 2 fave. things: the clawfoot tub and the beautiful French doors in-between the livingroom and the diningroom. I expected after over 40-something years that it would change but I was hoping at least they'd still keep the old character of the house and all I have now are my memories and photos of the way it was and the way I remember it.
I wanted to see my old house one last time before I die and now I have.

It's nice to see though that at least they still did keep the woodwork on and along the ceiling of the diningroom( shown below) and we used to have our decorative/collective plates up on the wooden shelves along the top. The house used to also have this nice aqua-colour textured wallpaper all over from the late 1800's when the house was built but they stripped all of that off and painted it over with a blah, boring white paint.
Yuck.

At least they still kept the nice hardwood floors though.

This was also my fave. room: the livingroom and it had the French doors in-between there and the diningroom and also on the far door you see here, near the front door, now sadly gone. At least the fireplace is still there and I can still fondly remember sitting there playing with my friends and listening to music. The big open space there is where the French doors used to be. The dark brown wood frame on the front window is the original wood when I lived there as well and it was thru the entire house like  that, incl. the French doors and all the trim and doors, incl. bedrooms, bathroom, closets, frames, etc. before they re-did it.

They also added another bathroom, re-did the entire kitchen( but I have to admit that it WAS really, really small) and finished the basement, and added an A/C, and re-did all the plumbing and wiring(like we did when we bought this house) and it looks like they also added some other additional room too because I didn't recognize it.

The veranda is still the same though and the same colours; dark brown and cream and with the same red brick, and seeing this brought back so many happy nostalgic memories.
It also sold in just 7 days, too.
Wow.
It took 8 months for us to sell our Ottawa house.

I only recognize this as my old bedroom(it looks totally different but I have to admit I like it except they got rid of the nice old wood windows) because of the old tree outside the window, facing the front of the house, looking out onto the street.
They also had demographic info on the neighbourhood on the realestate page and it said the "average income" of people in the area is 100K.
Wow.

They also totally re-did the backyard, incl. put in a fence and patio and I think it looks nice. I knew about the fence already though because I had a dream about it and it looked exactly the same! The same old  garage is still there too, the same one I'd climb up onto and sit on and also toss my little green Army parachute men off and I would also jump off, shown below.
Sadly though, things change and don't stay the same and you can never go back.
I mean, you can try, but things are never the same.
I prefer to live in the past because times were better and I was happy then.

I also think I figured out why my hubby was sicker with his virus than I am: he was only taking 1 cold/Flu pill every 12 hours when it was supposed  to be 2 of them every 4 hours and the way I found out was I put it on the shopping list as I only have 2 left and he asked how could I have run out so quickly and I told him when I take 2 every 4 hours over 3 days it runs out and he says you only take 1 every 12 hours and I said nooo.....so he checks the directions on the box, tossed out for recycling......and sure enough, I was right, just like I usually am only no one ever listens to me.😠

Goodnight baby, sleep tight, my love May God watch over you from above.-Tom Petty
