I saw the Gyno yesterday and the biopsy came back clean: no cancer and she couldn't find any cause for my profuse bleeding and agonizing pain and just called it Abnormal Uterine Bleeding and said it might be related to my bleeding disorder, hormonal imbalance, thick uterine lining, who knows, but in any case we went over the options for relief( finally! Someone who listens and is willing to help me and do something about it after 2 long years of suffering!) which incl. meds, ablation( burning of the uterine lining) hormone therapy or surgical removal of the uterus. I've already tried the meds which did help and lessen the bleeding but not eliminate it and did nothing for the pain and it's expensive and I'd have to keep on it, and I don't want to mess around with hormones as those things can have some serious side-effects(incl. stroke!) and can really f*ck you up and again it's long-term you have to be on; I just want to finally just end it and put it all behind me and not look back.
My cousin had the ablation and she said it worked for awhile but after 2 years it just came back, and she ended up having her uterus removed anyway and that was 20 years ago and she said it was the best thing she ever did. I also have more cousins and an aunt that had theirs removed too( by the age of 40!) for the same reason: heavy bleeding. I opted for the surgery:just take the damn thing out already and be done with it! Normally doctors might hesitate at such a radical surgery(and it is major abdomenal surgery) but she was actually excited and her face literally lit up and she gleefully exclaimed Oh, good! I love doing surgery, and I'm good at it! I joked she must have loved that game Operation as a kid and she said she did. So we went thru the usual risks of surgery which I know well as I've had several surgeries and have been thru the routine many times before. She also said while she's in there she'll take a look at my bladder and colon which are questionable and if there's any issues she'll call in other specialists and if any sign of cancer or anything she'll take it out right there at the same time which is a bonus! It'll be in Sept. or Oct; they have to get back to me on that.
Finally! I'll be getting relief! I'm too old for this shit. It will also end Aunt Flow and all bleeding issues. My uterus has served me well; I had 11 kids but that time has passed and I'm done now. I don't need it anymore and now it's just causing me trouble so it's time to retire it.
