Matching mother and son haircuts! This is the 25 YR old and I. Did I ever mention how much I love this kid? Of all the kids I'd have to say I get along with him the best. Yesterday he had a friend from Jiu-jitsu over and he put his mat out on the grass in the backyard and they practiced for awhile while I was out there working on my tan so I snuck a peek at them(without them noticing too much I hope) as I was curious and wanted to see and I thought it was cool how one guy would have the other on his back, helpless like a turtle when suddenly it would reverse and the guy pinned on the bottom would flip the guy on top of him over and reverse it and put him onto his back, and it was neat how the guy on the bottom would just sort of flip over and sail over the other guy trying to overpower him, but then there also got to a point where his friend had him in some sort of choke hold and it honest-to-God looked like he was on the verge of passing-out; his face went all purple and his body went all limp and I was freaking out and it took all restraint for me to NOT interfere and rush over there and pull the other guy off and rescue my poor boy yelling, get off him! You're killing him! He's going to pass-out! and I just had to silently pray and nervously hope it never went that far but after that I had to stop watching it was just too much for me; too nerve-wracking and stressful for my Mother-Heart. The 25 YR old tried to "reassure" me later that it happens all the time; they pass out and their opponent just has to elevate their legs up in the air and after a few seconds they regain consciousness.....it's no big deal. Don't ever say that to a mother. To a mother the very idea that her son, her child is being choked-out to the point of unconsciousness IS a BIG DEAL and very disturbing and unsettling to say the least. he's been taking it for years, really enjoys it( and even teaches) and is good at it and already a Purple belt( my fave. obviously since purple is my fave. colour!) and only has Brown and Black left to go!
During one of my meditative states the other day I also had a "revelation" about that time last YR when the 25 YR old was so sick he was unconscious on the bathroom floor next to the toilet and said he felt so sick he thought he was going to die and I'd never seen him that bad and called 9-1-1 and he took and ambulance to the ER and I went with him and the doctor at one point had me leave the room and just talked to him alone, really worrying me and came out after, a kindly older doctor, reassuring me with a little smile that he's sure he'll be perfectly fine in 24 HRS and I puzzled how he'd know and what it was ( he wouldn't tell me due to confidentiality and even though I'm his worried mother he's an adult now) but in the "reveal" a "litt;e voice" told me He was just drunk. He had beeen out drinking the night before and he wasn't used to drinking and had too much. So that was it? I don't know what being drunk, or a hangover, or alcohol poisoning even looks like as I've never seen it before so I wouldn't know it if I saw it or what to look for and I never would have even thought of that because as far as I know he doesn't even drink but now I wonder and it does make sense, and if so hopefully he's learned his lesson after that!
Last night my mother also saved 4 of the crispy chicken strips ( that everybody loves) for my hubby leaving none for the 25 YR old and I ( because we're the ones she doesn't like) and of course she also left a few for the 13 YR old( who she coddles and pampers and over-indulges and everyone knows it) so the 25 YR old and I said No way, no fair! so he and I each took one, leaving him still with 2 which is still adequate. So much for her always saying she's "being fair",. HA! My ass! I heard as well on the news this couple and their baby got stuck out on the water in a leaking raft without lifejackets on ( stupid, I know, and even me being a strong swimmer every time I go out on a boat, canoe, kayak, etc. I still wear a lifejacket because what if you get hit in the head or something and go unconscious and sink to the bottom and drown? only a lifejacket will keep you floating) and had to be rescued and then( as if being in that scary situation wasn't bad enough) the police also fined them 800$ each for NOT having the required PFD's and even worse: reported them to Child Welfare, bringing even more stress and trauma, and it's wrong; I mean, people make mistakes, they do stupid things, they mess up, they don't think, they aren't always careful; it happens to everyone and to every parent; it doesn't mean you're a bad parent and doesn't warrant having your kids being taken away. No one deserves that unless they're actually beating their kids.
