Last night we had a snowstorm with heavy snow and fierce winds and at 1 am the power went out and it just got restored now, 9 HRS later! So now it's really cold in here without the furnace on all night; now the thermostat says 55 F and normally we have it between 70-75 F so it's cold!I heard a loud noise at 1 am and then mere seconds later the radio went off and it's been off since so my guess is either heavy snow or wind or a broken tree limb knocked down the power lines. It was off for at least our entire street anyway as all the street lights were off as well. The worst of it is either no heat or being unable to cook food as the stove and microwave don't work without electricity; you can't even make toast! This is one of the longest times it's been off since we've lived here; usually it's just 1-2 hours. At our Ottawa house the longest was 3 days or so when we had that bad ice storm back in 1998. It got so cold after a couple of days(and we never had a working fireplace or woodstove for heat) we just ended up going to a hotel....and then the power went out there too but by then it was restored at our house.) I've always wondered as well if the stress of that is what cause me to go into premature labour at 35 weeks with baby # 7. All day yesterday even before I was cold all day too and just couldn't get warm and was shivering all day but at least now there's a reason. Of course now the snow tires are off we got more snow too but for 3 days this upcoming week it's getting warm and will melt, like up to 14C or so.
How cute is this? I mean, I just love this guy beyond words!I also heard a new word porch honky and I laughed my ass off but that's what I am though and my mother's shoulder is so bad she can't even move it or use that arm at all and can't dress herself or get her pants up and down and needs someone else to do it for her, making me wonder since it's getting worse if maybe it is broken and I think she should go to the ER now and get it X-rayed; she can't even turn over in bed the pain is so bad and renders her helpless, and her new doctor was agressively pushing her to get the vaccine, too, but she was adamant and resisted and firmly stood her ground and told her she doesn't believe in it and that she's NOT getting it; that's it,period and she finally accepted that was her choice.
