New Sidewalk!

We have a sidewalk! yesterday they put one in on our side of the road and I just love this cute little machine shown here( just click on the photo to grow it bigger to see closer detail) and it looks like if a bulldozer and a tank had a baby and reminds me of some sort of Star Wars droid! it swivels and turns around and looks like it would just be so much fun to operate! It was cute as well watching as it went face-to-face with a biiiig bulldozer and they both had their shovels raised and open towards oneanother, like male hippos in a battle for dominance, with mouths open and teeth bared, only in this case they were just dumping gravel from one shovel into the next.

Here they are smoothing out the cement that got freshly poured out from the cement truck using what looked like paint rollers, rakes and then finally bending over and smoothing it out by some sort of hand tool. I heard one guy shout out to another in a truck, Try NOT to get gravel on the road next time, Larry! and we had to put out our garbage and recyling bins just at the end of our driveway for pick-up today too because we couldn't put it out on the wet sidewalk or on the road(or else they'd get run over!) so I just hope they still pick them up; that they'll come in that far off the street to get them.

Here you can see the cement truck dropping off cement and before that a dump truck dumped off gravel for the base and they were smart too: instead of just dumping it all off in one spot in a huge pile they'd have to shovel out and then spread out all over the truck would stop by all along in 6 or so places all along the stretch and dump off smaller loads every so often along the way bit by bit. That's like me; always looking for what's easiest, less time-consuming and most convenient.

Here they are working on the sidewalk and I was just sooo tempted to carve something into the fresh new cement too but I couldn't since the workmen were always there the entire time and then just before they left they covered it all up with a big long white plastic sheet so it could dry and to protect it from the rain. I'm surprised how quickly they did it though; the entire sidewalk they completed all down our side of the street in just one day! I guess they'll do the other side across the street today?

.....and here it is: our brand-new sidewalk!
As for today, it's my hubby's birthday and the old fart is 59 and I joked we'll have to be getting a walker for him soon now, too, and he said I'll probably need one before him( because I have more medical issues than he does) which is probably true, but no matter how you look at it, he'll still always be older  than me no matter what, and I prefer to refer to myself as autistic too rather than Asperger's because Asperger's sounds too much like Ass-BURGERS. 🍔 😂
