We're still having that massive blizzard! We must have easily already got 1-2 feet of snow(at least I got the snow I wanted for Christmas; and how!) and it's still coming down hard and fast and furious! Yesterday I could hardly even open the door; the wind resistance was so strong and when I finally did it hit me, and a garbage can and a chair flew off the veranda and went down the driveway as well, breaking a leg entirely off the chair and another garbage can also went flying off I never did find and I was hoping some good kind soul might find it and return it since it has our address written on it but my hubby found it later on and even the big old Maple tree in front of the house was swaying and creaking, and not just the branches either, but the entire tree, incl. the trunk, making me worry it might get uprooted (and the roots were compromised during the recent construction, too, remember?)and fall right over,(it reminds me of me; old and unable to weather the storm anymore) and onto the house, smashing the roof and wall, and that's right where my bedroom window is,too, and you can still hear the wind( over 100 km) banging and howling out there and it's pure white you can't see a thing and roads and airports are closed, with hundreds of accidents reported and thousands without power and trees down, but still there I was, the hard-core dedicated old stoner that I am, still smoking weed out in the blizzard of the century; but pain still needs to be managed( and I have really bad abdomenal pain) weed still needs to be smoked and my family still makes me smoke outside, even in a raging blizzard. I filmed a video of it too and put it up on here, Facebook, and Twitter (where it got over 2600 views) but it only worked on my iPod and Twitter for some reason.
With this cold( wind-chill -20 C) blustery wintery blizzardy day Buddy and I hunkered down inside and practiced what in Scandinavia they refer to as hygge; snuggled down inside under wram blankets with a candle lit, with nice warm socks, looking at the Christmas tree lights, watching the snow fall outside the window, curled up with a good book, listening to music, and when I asked the Google Home device the weather(it's a literal blizzard) the stupid thing said light snow and my mother said about the 23 and 26 YR olds coming up for Christmas she wonders if the girls will still be coming, too, forgetting the 26 YR old had a sex-change, and my hubby says they won't arrive until after 5 pm on Christmas day and expects everyone to just sit around and wait all day until they arrive before anyone opens their stockings, gifts, have dinner, etc. but both my mother and I disagree; we don't think it's fair to make the rest of us wait until the day is almost over, and what if they're late, and for us the day is almost done by then as we go to bed early, and they might not even end up coming at all( and I remember last year they never even ate any of the dinner!), so we decided we'll still just do everything the same time we usually do( and he can wait if he wants) and they can just open their gifts when they come and re-heat the food. We've learned long ago to NOT depend on, rely on, or wait for other people( that way you won't be disrupted or disappointed) and to just do your regular thing, do your own thing and they either show up or they don't but not to put the day on "hold" for everyone else and they can just catch up whenever they arrive so that way the rest of us don't have to wait until the day is almost over and miss the day. It's up to them to leave early enough(like come up the day before) to be here on time and if not then we start without them.
If you give up who you are there is no one left for the other person to love, and no one left to do the loving.-Dushka Zapata
