Yesterday my hubby picked up the new book I wanted, Prince Harry's Spare and even better, too: 30% off (he found it at good 'ol Wal-Mart, and yes, they do sell books)and here it costs 47$ as we're always getting ripped-off and over-charged for everything. I've always loved reading and esp. enjoy biographies and autobiographies as people's lives are just so interesting and it shows that everyone has their struggles( famous and royal and all) and shows our shared humanity but now I'm old I noticed it takes me much longer to read and to process than it used to; this book is over 400 pages with small print and normally it would take me about 4 hours to finish reading it( so generally 100 pages an hour) but no more; I read it 4 1/2 hours last night until bed and I'm only over page 100, on the part where he's in the military and haven't even got to the part yet where he's met Meghan. My reading glasses are also 4 years old or so now and "fuzzy" and I obviously need a new prescription so there's also that and after a few hours my eyes got all tired and blurry. At least this way taking me longer it also lasts longer and I get to enjoy it longer and get more $$$$ worth.
It's fascinating to see life from a Royal's point of view, such as how casually he calls King Charles Pa , Princess Diana Mummy and the former Queen Granny and how Balmoral castle has 50 bedrooms (and I thought our house having 7 bedrooms was pretty awesome) and he referred to his late mother as a "light" too and that's exactly how I see Buddy; light that fills up the darkness, light that makes my dark life bright, and I can empathize with him as well as we are similar in the way that both of us feel like outcasts in our own familes, like we don't belong and are "after-thoughts" and outcasts, and feel like we're in a cage and want to escape and be free, and when people accuse Meghan of "stealing" him away from his family and "alienating" him it seems more to me from reading the book that he always wanted to get away from them and from Royal life and forge a life and an identity on his own and she was just finally the opportunity for him to break free.He also always feels "inferior" by birth to his older brother yet also a whiner at the same time, too, and it disturbs me how he seems to enjoy killing, from hunting animals and smearing blood on his face like a savage warrior or bragging how many Taliban fighters he killed in Afghanistan, but it's an interesting read and to see things from his perspective and I'm enjoying the book like I thought I would.
As for us, not much here except my friend J( from the YMCA group in Ottawa) is back in Cuba( he goes several times a year) and from the freezing rain our garbage cans and recycling bins are all coated in a layer of ice and I'm thinking for my next trip why not make it a big one( esp. after being able to save up enough $$$ during the Scamdemic not being allowed to travel anywhere for 3 years) like maybe to India or China or maybe even Bali or somewhere exotic...
I know that things are going wrong for me
