I pulled it off! I managed to cook the entire Thanksgiving dinner all on my own, my first time without my mother here to help and it was ok, the trick was to divide it out and just do a bit at a time and not all at once but a few things at a time. The hardest was actually the gravy, to make it the right consistancy, to make sure it gets thick enough and not too runny or lumpy.
It said to keep stirring no matter what, so even if I had an itch to scratch or Buddy had to go out to pee or I had to pee or I felt faint standing for so long, etc
. just keep stirring.
Don't stop.
It was supposed to be for 3 minutes but for me it took 6 minutes until it was thick enough but for me it always takes longer( either twice as long or several attempts) than it does for other people to do everything.
The story of my life.
It worked out though and the only complaint was the 28 YR old who claimed that there "wasn't 'enough' food" he was mad that I didn't cook an entire turkey (but rather 3 turkey breasts instead; 2 regular and one stuffed) even though now the average 17 pound whole turkey costs 95$, and we had enough, plus left-overs for today's dinner, too, so I don't have to cook today, and we also had 2 kinds of potaotes and veggies, and buns and stuffing and pie, too.Plus, there's also only the 4 of us left here now as well and no longer 12 like we used to have so we don't need as much food anymore like we used to have and my mother always over-did it and had too much food before, like 5 turkeys(incl. a whole one) and 3 hams, etc. more than we needed and costing too much. This is much better..
I also got more sunflowers, likely the last of the season, and it's so cold now as well I asked my hubby to remove the A/C from my bedroom window yesterday but he didn't and last night my nose was even cold and Buddy and I slept pressed up tight next to eachother huddled underneath the blankets to keep warm(I think I might need my heater soon!) and for the first time this season the furnace even came on, and for our dinner yesterday I thought we had corn as well but we didn't; my hubby came from the downstairs freezer announcing that we did and brought up 2 packs of frozen stuff.....but it ended up to be peas and broccoli so I sent him to the store last-minute to get the corn which he did(even though he wasn't happy about it) and he also found the sunflowers, too, plus a few other things on the list he couldn't find the other day so it worked out.I also noticed that we still have the Christmas table cloth on the dining room table from last year, too! HA!😂
I also had him pick up some carnations for when we visit my mother today and most of them were all brown or wilted or had the flowers broken off the stems and I told him he was an idiot for buying dead ones so I ended up switching and giving her the ones that I had instead(shown below) adding the carnations that were still ok and keeping the practically dead ones myself.. What an idiot, not even checking first and actually paying $$$ and buying dying flowers. Duh.
