Yesterday the 28 YR old found a fantastic and rare find at the thrift store (I call the Peasant Store) a genuine Murano ( an island near Venice which I've been to as well as Rome, Naples, Sicily, Pompeii, Ravello and Positano) Italian hand-blown glass piece just like he said many of his rich clients have, that usually cost thousands of $$$$ and it is an original as it even has the stamp on it! They obviously had no idea what they had and what they were selling(probably from an estate sale) but he recognized it right away and scooped it up and he'd always wanted one and couldn't believe his good fortune and now he can Keep Up with the Rosenbergs and the Weinsteins etc.HA! It also finally looks and feels like fall now too; windy, blustery, rainy, cold and leaves blowing everywhere and today only a "high" of 9 C so now I've officially switched over from my summer shorts and T-shirts to my longer warmer clothes of long pants, shirts and socks and our sitting outside days may be over now, or at the very least numbered.
I already miss summer.
I also cooked the turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and the entire house just smelled oh-oh, sehr gut und lecker so today I just have to do the other stuff and I saw a movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 the other day as well( that's what rainy days are for; watching movies) and they filmed it in Greece and it reminded me of when I was there and it was one of my fave. places and maybe I should go back, but I doubt that my bad back could take 12 hour flights anymore, and trashy shows like The Bachelor, Bachelor In Paradise, FBoy, etc. all they do is make out like horny badgers too so you might as well just watch porn. It's so disgusting and gross. I also saw a woman with her son across the street yesterday that looked about 2 years old and it made me smile as it reminded me of my kids when they were little and they're so sweet at that age but then they grow up into monsters that end up hating you. Next-door also finally got rid of their old junky jalopy vans on their lawn they had for years too that looked like the Sanford & Son junkyard so I think the township must have ordered them to clean it up.
I also made this for lunch yesterday and it was sooooo good: mozzarrella and pesto stuffed gnocchi fried in olive oil and sprinkled with parmesan, and my hubby picked up the pumpkin pies at the bakery yesterday I'd ordered last week and there was a big line-up with 15 or so people ahead of him and he had to stand out and wait in the rain for like forever (ha,ha) and of course I couldn't wait until our dinner tonight to try some( pumpkin pie is my fave!) and I had a piece yesterday( and one for breakfast this morning, too, shhh! don't tell anyone!) because, you know, I have to "test" it first before I give it to my family to make sure it's not poison, and what I'm most thankful for is Buddy, of course, but also for good times, happy memories, and good days, and also even for the bad times, too; that God has always been there for me and given me the strength and endurance to get thru, and been there with me,and has always warned me,guided me and protected me. I'm also thankful for a happy childhood( other than the being molested and bullied part) and teen years in the 70's and 80's, for the 2 schools I did like, for the cottage and camp, visiting relatives, for friends, the YMCA group and the people I met there and the friends I had and the sense of belonging I had for the first and only time in my life, for pets, for the travelling I've done, for summers and Christmases, for when the kids were younger, for our old house in Toronto, etc.
It's also horrific the situation in Israel where Hamas militants attacked people but at the same time I can also understand the Palestinians' frustrations as I have been there and seen for myself with my own eyes the segregated ghetto they live in, in Third-World conditions(and the vast and stark difference between how they and Israelis live) and people can only be oppressed for so long before they will eventually say enough is enough until they fight back ,and poverty, inequality, discrimination, disadvantage, oppression, and abuse creates violence and agggression ,and in the Western media we're "conditioned" to believe that Israel is the "Good Guy" and we should always support them and to NOT is being "anti-Semetic" which is just bullshit; I support whoever is being oppressed; in WWII no doubt it was the Jews being oppressed but now it's the State of Israel oppressing the Palestinians while the world continues to look the other way and when they fight back they're labelled as "terrorists".There are 2 sides to every story. It's really no different than the French or Russian Revolution though; an oppressed downtrodden people fighting to be free from oppressive authority.
Pray for peace.
