My friend from the old church's daughter had her baby! A 9 pound 2 oz boy they named Mason. (I like that name!)...and she only had a 6 hour labour and pushed for 45 minutes! For a first baby, if you can believe it! She's soooo lucky!! She sure got off easy; the average length of a first labour is 12 hours and 2 hours of pushing and my first (35 years ago!) was 24 HRS and 30 min. pushing and even after 11 kids I still never had a short, quick easy 6 HR labour! My shortest was 14 HRS,and that was the last one, which was induced due to my liver failure!I know people, fellow homeschoolers, who average at least 8 kids per family who even have 45 minutes or 1 hour labours! Some people just have all the luck, I guess. It's a known fact though that things have always been harder for me than for others and I always have a more difficult time with everything in life and struggle more than other people, and more than the average.
When I told my hubby he smirked, Oh, you must be so happy for her how easy it was for her...as I gritted my teeth and fake-smiled while inside secretly thinking how unfair it is that other people have it so easy and just seem to "breeze" thru life while I always struggle all the time. The only thing I can do well is push; my first I pushed out in just 30 minutes and then all the others in just 2-3 pushes but the actual labours themselves are always long, difficult, and ardous and I also hemmorage, alot too, on top of that. I've never had what you'd call a fast or easy birth. This makes my friend's first grandchild, too, and I can still remember when her kids were just 2, 6, and 8 years old themselves. That really makes me feel old.
Today is also child # 7's 26th birthday; one of the Edmonton Boys. Speaking of which, he was a preemie and had to be ressussitated at birth and in the NICU with many periods where he'd stop breathing and then had leukemia when he was 7..and then there was also the suicide attempt as a teen.
I also visited my mother yesterday and I notice most of the PSW's are Asian, mainly Filipina and some Chinese, Korean and Indian too, and they're for the most part nicer than the Canadian ones, and kinder to the residents, esp. the Filipina ones, likely because of their culture, which is very family-oriented and esp. revere the elderly, and I remember my Filipino friend in high school; he was one of 13 kids and he worked part-time at Burger King and gave his salary to his parents and they gave him a portion for his expenses but it was used for the family, and I can't visit her for the next 2 weeks because my hubby has to work and then he's away in Vancouver. Today the 16 YR old (who also always likes to wear his clothes inside-out; it's his Thing; maybe an autistic thing; not liking the feel of the tags and the seams? I sometimes wear my underwear inside-out or backwards, too, but not on purpose)also gets a haircut ,and I love, love, love my dreads, and it doesn't take much to excite me anymore; I get a new shampoo or body wash and I'm happy, and I heard somewhere that Taylor Swift is a witch, too, and I believe it; she also probably sold her soul to the devil for fame & fortune, too; what else would explain her meteroric sudden rise to fame like that? It's not uncommon among Hollywood celebs to do that, sadly. Fame & fortune are fleeting though, just as life is, but eternity is forever.
