He’s the 13 YR old’s new pet she and her friend caught in her friend’s yard but her friend wasn’t allowed to keep him as her step-mother hates reptiles. She thought he’d escaped from his terrarium yesterday and spent 20 minutes looking for him all over her room but in that pig-sty you’d never find him anyway and he’d likely just end up getting stepped on but as it turns out he was there all along; he was just hiding under a big leaf, camouflaged, and I told her “I guess he wins at Hide “N Seek!” As fascinating as he is the kids still say that they want a “real pet” and I remember several YRS ago the boys had a toad AND a frog but I had to set them free once the then 7 YR old had leukemia as I was the one looking after them; cleaning their habitat and picking bugs every night and once he got sick I was back and forth at the hospital all the time and I didn’t have time for them anymore.

As well, yesterday was the 16 YR old’s first day back at jiu-jitsu after 4 weeks off since he broke his toe…and then his finger was all bent! The knuckle was sticking up and he couldn’t straighten it so off to the ER he went and they took an X-Ray and at first they thought it was dislocated so they twisted it trying to pop it back into place but it didn’t make any difference so a senior doctor was called in and it turned out he has a torn tendon and got a splint and NOW has to miss jiu-jitsu for ANOTHER 6 weeks, and misses another tournament again,too, the poor guy! When he first came back and told me I thought he was joking as they always try to trick me and freak me out and I wasn’t falling for it this time,and what are the odds after just breaking his toe that now on his first day back he’d do his finger, TOO? What next….break an arm or a leg?

The 15 YR old also said when she was away at camp she had a “bad feeling” about my mother and it was at the same time she had the pain and went to the ER with kidney stones( she’s the one who’s “fey” like I am), the 11 YR old had a friend over and they went on the trampoline, went for a swim and played the Wii, a friend of mine from the old church just had her first surgery ever ( and she’s in her 40’s) and she stopped breathing a few times with the anesthetic which is scary; I’ve had several surgeries and I’ve always been fine; I just have scary nightmares, now some 1000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in the 2 weeks conflict and now Israel is on the wrong side of history and has broken some 65 UN resolutions, and I had a dream about Leif Garrett as well, when he used to grace all the teen mags, back in the 70’s and I had a crush on him, when no one knew he did drugs as back then it was easier for the PR folks to hide things, not like now with the Internet and social media and information is spread so quickly. I wonder if my dreaming about him means he’s going to die soon?

Our second oldest( who works in Japan) also is coming up for Christmas and found out to keep your citizenship you have to come back to this country for at least 2 weeks every YR and that’s expensive and a pain in the ass for someone like her who lives and works so far away, on the other side of the world, where airfare costs a fortune( 1500$ or so, give or take) and a flight home is 18 HRS long, but now I know how I can lose MY citizenship though: just stay out of the country for a YR or more without returning and just get citizenship of whatever country I decide to stay in! There was also this guy featured on the news from here on a flight going to Panama and he was ranting and raging about the cost of things here and yelling how he hates Canada and doesn’t care what happens to it and how he’s going to bomb it and I just cracked up laughing my ass off and was thinking, “Right ON, brother! I agree with you! I hate it,too!” The plane was forced to re-route and land though, accompanied by fighter jets and the police SWAT team( in full riot gear) stormed the plane and arrested him, scaring the shit out of all of the other passengers. You just can’t say shit like that on a plane though.

I wonder as well if my extreme thirst might even be diabetes since it is a classic symptom as well as weight loss( and I have lost 20 pounds since Feb. although I just thought it was due to my ulcer) and the last time I had my blood checked for it 2 YRS ago it came back as “borderline diabetic”…except I thought you’re also supposed to have other tell-tale signs,too, such as muscle cramps and blurry vision, neither of which I have, so maybe it really is just due to my new meds and an increase in my Prozac( the dosage was doubled) but in any case the next time I see my doc in early Sept. I’ll just mention it to him if it hasn’t gone away by then.
