I got this from Quora:
- Animals don’t need socially acceptable body language or social conventions. I don’t need to pretend to care about their aunt Barbara’s petunias in small talk.
- Animals are straightforward. If they want something, they’ll tell you.
- You’ll never get an, “Oh, I wish someone would do (x) for me. Come to think of it, aren’t you free? What’re you doing tonight?” from a bird.
- If you do get that from a bird, please keep it 100 miles away from me.
- You don’t need to talk to animals to keep them comfortable. You can sit in silence and enjoy each other’s company.
- My cat doesn’t care what job industry I want to get into or that it doesn’t make a certain amount of money.
- Unconditional love.
- I can play silly games, roll on the ground, and speak in different languages to them and they’re still delighted by my presence.
- Pro tip: don’t pretend you don’t speak English when visiting extended family. They don’t take it well.
- They’re lovely to touch in most cases.
- Many of them are quiet and will respect your space — and cuddle, of course.
It’s generally dozens of times easier to be around an animal than a human. Humans expect things of you — animals don’t.
