Cassava Root.
Well, here's our misadventure at our house for yesterday: one of my brilliant spawn ate some cassava root RAW, which we all know ( or at least I assume most of us know, has cyanide in it and has to be cooked to neutralize it and is toxic if eaten raw and can kill you). The child shall remain nameless; they were so embarrassed at their gaffe they didn't even want me to post it but my family doesn't know about this blog anyway but just in case I'm not going to say which one of the kids it was, to protect their privacy from public humiliation but anyone who knows our family personally will probably be able to guess who it was as this particular individual gets into situations like this alot. So, this kid walks up to me and offers me some saying basically look what new and interesting food they picked up at the store and would I like to try some....and I looked at it and recogized it as the cassava root and so I warned them, That looks like a cassava root.....I hope you didn't eat that RAW....and I went on to explain why. and then they said yes, they did, a couple of big slices, like a cucumber.....
Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod.....
So I called poison control. How much, exactly is lethal? The kid didn't know what it was (this particular offspring has a habit of picking up new and unknown exotic foods and trying them....which is a good thing, trying new food.....except if you don't know what something is or how to safely prepare it you shouldn't eat it. He probably thought it was sonething like a yam or a parsnip but still, the general rule of survival is if you don't know what it is it might not be safe, it might be poison, so don't eat it, like when you're in the woods; don't eat berries if you don't know what they are or "mushrooms" that might actually be poisonous toadstools...) and the guy on the other end asked how old the child was and when I said he was trying to stifle a laugh, because, you know, most kids that ingest accidental poison are under 6. He said it shouldn't have been enough to kill ,thank God, given the amount ingested and the weight of the kid, but told me the symptoms to look out for: extreme vomiting and diarrhrea, breathing trouble, racing heart, extreme lethargy and to call 9-1-1 or go right to the ER but thankfull everything was OK.
THIS is why I likely have high BP and ulcers. A mother also never stops being a mother or stops worrying about her kids and their health, safety, and well-being even once they've grown up.

Hypocrisy.
First of all I had to post this adorable photo of Buddy: this is when you get pumpkin yogurt on your snoot from licking the container all clean.
My hubby and kids think I'm a hypocrite because I used to celebrate Satan's Day (other people refer to it as Halloween) but now I won't let my kids and I think it's occult and glorifies Satan and the demons but the thing is that I'm not a hypocrite; but rather I learned; I became educated and aware and chnged my ways once I knew. Like most people at one time I just thought it was harmless fun, too; just a fun day to dress up and get candy, until I started going to the homeschooling groups in Ottawa(both the general Christian one and the Catholic one) and both of them opened my eyes and informed me what that day really was; that it actually was a dark occult day to celebrate Satan and the demonic, not just a day of "harmless fun" like I had thought and been brought up to believe, like Satan has deceived everyone into thinking. No one at either of the groups celebrated it, and, in fact, they all knew what it really was and what it really represented and what God said about it, about avoiding everything and anything to do with the occult.
My hubby tries to excuse it as Christmas and Easter were once pagan holidays too but the difference is that now they've been reclaimed for God but Satan's Day is still and remains a "holy" day for witches, Satanists, pagans, and the like; it's still a big day of celebration for occultists, and we have All Saints Day the day after on 1 November to counter-act the evil of the day before. I haven't celebrated it in over 25 years, ever since I became aware of what it really is. Once I was made aware of it's true nature and occult purpose I changed and stopped doing it. I learned. I changed once I knew the truth. That's not being a hypocrite; that's learning, changing, becoming educated and growing. Being a hypocrite is knowing something is wrong and telling others not to do it but still doing it yourself anyway. That's hypocritical. before I never knew the true meaning of it, but once I found out I was horrified and filled with guilt and once I knew what it really was and what it really represented(and was just disguised as harmless fun) that it was glorifying Satan and the occult I stopped doing it. There's a difference. If you're not aware it's wrong, that's one thing, but once you become aware of what something really is then it's on your conscience to stop doing it. Once you learn you stop.
It's the same with weed. I used to be one of those judgemental assholes that thought marijuana was bad and looked down on people that used it but now I have discovered the medical benefits of it; that it's not "bad"; it depends how and why you use it; like fire; it can be used for good or bad; you can use it for heat or fuel and it's good or you can misuse it and burn someone's house down. It's the same. I have been using it medically for the past 4 years for my migraines and it was the only thing that worked. It's eliminated them. I haven't had one in 4 years now and I used to have them pretty much daily. It also helps other pain too, such as abdomenal etc. and lessens my anxiety as well. So now I have learned I have changed,. I have become educated and enlightened. It's not hypocritical to learn and to grow and change your mind, to not be judgemental and to become more open-minded, tolerant and accepting. Isn't that supposed to be a good thing? Speaking of which, last night it was so cold 1 C or so and bone-chilling wind but there I still was, outside hitting the bong, but pain still needs to be managed, moods still need to be elevated and spirits still need to be lifted. I also thought I saw a naked man streaking thru the backyard too but when I went to get a closer look (at this point I'm so desperate I'll take what I can get,ha,ha) I saw it was just the lights from cars passing by. It was soooo windy too it knocked down our big heavy metal basketball thingy too and it landed right down on the ground. I'm just glad no one was standing there under it; that it never hit anyone and that it never fell the other way or it would have crushed the fence and landed on the pool cover and tore it. I also have to keep trying everything 5-6 times before anything ever works for me,too; nothing ever goes the way it's supposed to the first time or even the first few times for me, so I guess that explains why I had so many kids too, although the first one ended up OK; it was after that they started to get a bit wonky...

Satan's Day.
I wasn't even going to post about this so-called "holiday", not even wanting to acknowledge it, but this needed to be said so here goes: as you all know yesterday was "Satan's Day" otherwise known as Halloween. We don't celebrate it due to it's occult nature but I found out, much to my disgust, horror, hurt, disappointment, etc. that last night my kids and my hubby(and with his help and full co-operation and encouragement I might add, making it that much worse) went out dressed up for Satan's Day and collected candy, even though they know perfectly well how I feel about it, and even more important, what The Bible says about avoiding everything to do with the occult and that we are to avoid it and yesterday being one of Satanists' and witches etc. highest holiest days, etc. offending God and being blasphemous.....but they don't care; they defied me and even worse: defied God and still snuck out and did it anyway, behind my back which was very deceptive and hurtful.
Then they wonder why I'm always so paranoid and suspicious and don't trust them and always think they're "up" to something. Well, gee....maybe it has something to do with the fact that they're always lying, sneaking around, defiant, disobedient, dishonest, deceptive, doing things behind my back, etc. To make it even worse is the 16 YR old even lied right to my face and told me she had to work and she even went as far as taking her dinner I had prepared and packed for her, carrying out the ruse fully as if she really was going off to work, when instead secretly they all went out for Satan's Day instead, even going as far as sneaking out of the house and getting all dressed up elsewhere so I wouldn't notice( reminding me of my friend in highschool who would change into her slutty clothing and plastered-on make-up once she got to school and then take it off before she got home so her mother wouldn't know.....until that day, of course, she got busted when she forgot her book at home and her mother brought it to her class that one fateful day and caught her all tarted up dressed like a whore, ha ha!) which was especially hurtful.
How did I find out, you may ask? I walked in on them last night sitting together stuffing their faces with candies sharing out of a big bag. It was pretty obvious and then this morning I found a jug of fake blood ( in the photo here) in the bathroom(for their costumes) I wrote f*ck you on the bottle with nail polish ( the only thing I could find in the bathroom to write with but it's permanant so it's good)just to let them know it didn't go unnoticed by me.(and they weren't even smart enough to hide it,either) and the 16 YR old yells after me, Would you prefer it that we took drugs or something?( as opposed to celebrating Satan's Day) and I yelled back, Actually, yes, rather than worshipping SATAN!!! and with that I stalked off and slammed my bedroom dorr behind me, you know, for effect. Every parent is hurt when their kids defy them and go behind their back and disrespect them like this but the worst of it is the total and blatant disregard for God. Then the 16 YR old also told me that all of the kids have been sneaking out and celebrating Satan for years. I try so hard to raise my kids godly and it all just seems for nothing. Like the priest said though, all I can do is try and do my best. I homeschooled them, I made sure they all got their Sacraments, I raised them in faith, I kept them apart from the sin of the world, but the rest is up to God and the seed has been planted so to speak and maybe one day it will take root and grow but I did everything I could.
As well, yesterday( and today) we have weather warnings for the torrential rain and 100km winds ( I could even hear the wind howling and banging on my window all during the night) making Satan's Day a wash-out last night for all the little Satanists (ha ha) so it was like God literally rained on Satan's parade and ruined his birthday party(ha ha) and this morning at 5 am when I got up to pee there was even a dusting of SNOW (no joke!) on the roof tops but has since all melted away with the rain. Ugh.
